Open Questions

Open Questions groups the atlas's own recorded points of genuine historical or definitional dispute about transport, stated honestly as unresolved rather than smoothed into one settled answer: aviation priority claims, what actually counts as the first automobile, competing completion dates for major railways, and disputes over which road network was truly the first engineered one. Each entry names the competing positions and the evidence each side cites rather than picking a winner. This category excludes settled facts, which are carried as ordinary properties on the entities they describe, and holds only questions the historical or technical record does not resolve cleanly.
