Toyota Coaster

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Toyota Coaster is a single-decker minibus that Toyota introduced in 1969 as a 17-passenger bus using the running gear of the Toyota Dyna of the time. The second generation arrived in 1982, the third in 1992 and the fourth in late 2016. In Japan it is sold only at Toyota Store dealerships, and since 1996 it has also been badge engineered as the Hino Liesse II. It was formerly built by Toyota Auto Body at its Yoshiwara plant, and after the revised Coaster of December 2016 production moved to the Honsha plant of a Toyota Auto Body subsidiary. Later models used a range of four- and six-cylinder diesel and petrol engines, and the Coaster Hybrid EV minibus of August 1997 came ahead of the Prius and continued until 2007.
