The Dennis Dorchester was a mid-engined, heavy-duty single-deck coach chassis built by Dennis in small numbers between 1983 and 1988. It was shown at the 1982 Motor Show as a premium underfloor-engined coach chassis aimed at operators who had bought the Seddon Pennine 7. Only 67 were made. Scottish Bus Group subsidiaries Western Scottish, Central Scottish and Clydeside Scottish took 44 of them, with Plaxton Paramount or Alexander bodies in service bus, express semi-coach and full coach forms. Independent operators such as Geoff Amos of Northamptonshire and Tillingbourne Bus Company bought others, and one was exported to South Africa. Other body builders for the chassis included Duple, Caetano, Berkhof, Wadham Stringer and Reeve Burgess.
