Toyota FC Bus

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Toyota FC Bus is a transit bus with an electric motor powered by hydrogen fuel cells. Toyota developed it in cooperation with Hino Motors, reusing components first built for the Toyota Mirai fuel cell sedan, and the hydrogen is stored in carbon and glass fiber tanks. It also carries a power supply system able to feed external receivers at up to 9 kW, intended as an emergency source of electricity for a city after an earthquake or tsunami. A prototype ran on bus routes in Tokyo in July 2015, Toyota began selling the bus in February 2017, and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Transport Office bought the first one that year. The Toyota Sora replaced it in 2018.
