Leyland Victory Mark 2

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Leyland Victory Mark 2 was a front-engined double-decker bus chassis made by Leyland between 1978 and 1981, designed for Hong Kong conditions of hilly roads and one-person operation with a farebox, in competition with the Dennis Jubilant. It was developed from the Guy Victory J, which Bus Bodies of South Africa also chose for its own double-decker. Four were delivered to Kowloon Motor Bus for evaluation. It could take a Gardner 6LXB engine and a Voith D851 gearbox, though one for China Motor Bus was tried with a Self-Changing Gears GB350. Almost all had Alexander bodywork, but the last 20 for China Motor Bus carried Duple Metsec bodies, and KMB put 540 into service.
