Leyland Tiger

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Leyland Tiger, also known as the B43, was a mid-engined bus and coach chassis made by Leyland from 1981 to 1992, reusing a name that had belonged to a front-engined bus built from 1927 to 1968. It replaced the Leopard, which had run for over 20 years. At launch only the turbocharged Leyland TL11 engine, rated up to 260 hp, was offered, and Leyland's reluctance to fit a Gardner engine lost it some Scottish Bus Group orders to the Seddon Pennine 7, so Gardner 6HLX engines were offered from 1984 once the Dennis Dorchester threatened to take more.
