Leyland Leopard

Buses and Road Mass Transit Vehicles

The Leyland Leopard was a mid-engined single-decker bus and coach chassis made by Leyland from 1959 to 1982, developed from the Tiger Cub. The biggest change was the larger, more powerful O.600 engine, with the 11.1-litre O.680 fitted to later cars. The first chassis were the 30 foot L1 bus, the L2 coach and the left-hand-drive LHL1, all on a 16 foot 2 inch wheelbase, and the 36 foot models launched at the 1961 Scottish Motor Show were the PSU3 bus and coach versions on an 18 foot 6 inch wheelbase. Only the longer versions could have Pneumocyclic transmission in 1964. The Leyland Tiger superseded the Leopard.
