The Leyland Gnu, type code TE, was a bus chassis built by Leyland Motors in 1937 only. Its distinguishing feature was three axles with two steered front axles, an arrangement that the Bedford VAL would later use in a similar way. The concept could not establish itself at the time and just eight examples were built. The bodies were made by Duple and by Alexander and seated up to 40 passengers. Unusually for British buses of the period the Gnu had a forward-control body, and both coaches and service buses were produced on the chassis. It is one of the shortest-lived Leyland bus types of the 1930s.
