Felix Heinrich Wankel (1902 to 1988) was a German mechanical engineer and inventor after whom the Wankel engine is named. The Wankel engine is the rotary internal combustion design in which a triangular rotor turns inside a housing instead of pistons moving in cylinders, and it was later built into production cars by Mazda. English Wikipedia's lead also records that Wankel joined various radical antisemitic organizations after the First World War and was a prominent member of the Nazi Party, a fact that belongs in any honest account of his life and career.
