The Ford Endura-D is a 1.8 litre (1,753 cc) inline-four diesel engine used in the Ford Escort, Focus, Fiesta, Mondeo, Orion, Sierra, Transit Connect and Ikon. It began life branded Lynx, a development of the LT 1.6 diesel, and later carried the Endura-DE name. These indirect injection engines have a cast iron block and a single overhead camshaft opening eight valves, with a belt-driven rotary injection pump usually made by Lucas CAV. The naturally aspirated Endura-DE made 60 PS, while turbocharged versions made 70 PS and with an intercooler 90 PS. Around 1998 the engine was redesigned as the direct injection Endura-DI, sometimes called the TDDI, which is always turbocharged and made 75 PS in the Fiesta and Transit Connect and 90 PS in the Focus. The naturally aspirated engine was also offered in the Indian Ford Ikon from 2003 to 2008.
