EcoBlue is the marketing name of a range of diesel engines from Ford of Europe. Developed by Ford teams in the United Kingdom and Germany under the codename Panther, it replaced the Duratorq diesels, with an initial 2.0 litre version rated at 105, 130 and 170 PS for commercial vehicles and a 1.5 litre version to follow. Ford claims a 13 percent fuel efficiency gain from lower friction, helped by a lightweight block with an aluminium ladder frame, a crankshaft offset by 10 millimetres, a belt in oil camshaft drive and piezo injectors working at 2,000 bar to meet Euro 6. In 2018 a biturbo 2.0 litre with 213 PS went into the Ranger Raptor, and a 238 PS version powered the Edge. A North American version planned for the 2020 Transit was cancelled.
