Duratorq is the marketing name of a range of Ford diesel engines introduced in 2000. The first design, codenamed Puma, replaced the older Endura-D unit of 1984, and its commercial versions replaced the 2.5Di type engine used in the Transit and in vehicles from other makers such as the London taxi and the Land Rover Defender. The inline four cylinder engines of the DLD family are sold as Duratorq TDCi by Ford and as HDi by Citroen and Peugeot under a joint venture announced in 1998, and Mazda uses them too. The larger five cylinder units carry the Power Stroke name in North American vehicles, and the line has been replaced progressively by the EcoBlue diesels from 2016. Other unrelated units in the range were developed by Ford and PSA.
