Nissan Sunny California (B11)

The Nissan Sunny California (B11) is the second generation of the Sunny station wagon, sold from October 1981 to September 1985. Japanese Wikipedia says it appeared in October 1981 as the five-door wagon version of the B11 Sunny. Like the sedan it changed from rear-wheel to front-wheel drive and replaced the old OHV A-series engine with the new SOHC eight-valve E-series (E13S, E15S and E15E) mounted transversely, the first Sunny engine to drive its camshaft with a timing belt. In July 1981 the company president announced that Nissan would retire the Datsun brand in favour of the Nissan name, except for the Datsun pickup, so this car became the Nissan Sunny California. A first diesel version, using the 1,680 cc CD17 inline four, followed in October 1982 with 61 horsepower gross. The E15E engine was dropped and the car facelifted in October 1983, and the B12 took over in September 1985.
