The Nissan Stagea is a station wagon that Nissan produced from 1996 to 2007. It was launched in 1996 as direct competition for the Subaru Legacy Touring wagon in Japan and was sold exclusively through Nissan Prince Store dealerships. The name is a portmanteau of the English word stage and the A of Advance. All WC34 models share their floor-pan and mechanical components with the Nissan Laurel (C34), with some rear suspension parts from the R32, R33 and R34 Skyline, and the styling echoes the R34 Skyline. The first generation WC34 came as the Series 1, Series 1.5 and Series 2 with RB-family inline-six engines, a 2.0 litre single cam, a 2.5 litre twin cam and a 2.5 litre turbo, in rear-wheel drive or in all-wheel drive with the ATTESA E-TS system. The M35 series that followed, from 2001 to 2007, switched to VQ-series V6 engines.
