The Mercedes-Benz S124 is the estate body style of the W124 range of executive cars that Daimler-Benz built from 1984 to 1997, sold with the T suffix on its model names such as 230TE and 300TE. It went on sale in September 1985 and repeated most of the saloon range with the 200T, 230TE, 300TE, 200TD and 250TD, lacking only the 2.6 litre M103 and the 3 litre OM603, whose 300TD version joined a year later. It came in five or seven seat versions, the seven-seater having a rear-facing bench seat that folded flush with the luggage compartment cover. To give a flat loading floor the rear seat squab sat about 10 cm higher than in the saloon, which cost rear passengers some head room. The higher roofline also made the S124 the preferred base for ambulances, hearses, vans and motorhomes, and the estate lingered on until February 1996.
