The Fiat Croma of 2005 is a large family car that Fiat built from 2005 to 2010. It took the name of the earlier Croma but shared nothing with it. It was meant to sit above the rest of the Fiat range among the premium models, rivalling two-box luxury cars such as the Renault Vel Satis, the Seat Toledo and the Opel Signum, and its platform came from the old Fiat and General Motors alliance and was shared with the Opel Vectra. It was well equipped and cheaper than its rivals, with five engines at launch, two petrol units of 140 and 150 horsepower and three diesels, including the new 2.4 Multijet of 200 horsepower. Fiat aimed to sell 50,000 a year in Europe but never passed 37,000, reached in 2006. In 2008 the front was restyled like the new Bravo and the car was renamed Croma SW. Production stopped on 2 December 2010 and it was not replaced.
