Wolseley Sixteen

Automobiles

The Wolseley Sixteen was a mid-range car that Wolseley brought out in 1933 as the successor to the nearly identical 16/45 and Viper. This first car, the first with an overhead camshaft in its line, was built until 1934 with a 2,025 cubic centimetre six-cylinder engine of 50 brake horsepower, about 37 kilowatts, and reached 103 kilometres per hour. A second Sixteen appeared in 1936 with a 2,062 cubic centimetre engine with overhead valves and was sold as a four-door saloon until 1938, when the shorter 16/65 replaced it. That car ended with the outbreak of war in 1939.
