The Standard 16/20 hp was an Edwardian touring car of the Standard Motor Company of Coventry. Grace's Guide lists the 16/20 for 1906 as a 3,531 cc side-valve four-cylinder car, one of a range of shaft-drive cars of the year of which the larger models were six-cylinder. In 1909 a fleet of twenty of these 16/20 tourers was supplied for the use of Commonwealth editors attending the Imperial Press Conference in London, and the publicity that followed made the factory buildings inadequate. The sole-agency arrangement under which the London dealer Charles Friswell had agreed to buy the entire factory output at the 1905 Motor Show was still in force, and Friswell became chairman of the company in 1907.
