Rover 9

Automobiles

The Rover 9 was a small car produced by Rover of Britain from 1924 until 1927, with a 1074 cc, 9 fiscal horsepower, four cylinder engine designed by Mark Wild and his staff. Announced in August 1924 as the 9/20, the water cooled overhead valve engine supplemented and then replaced the air cooled twin of the Rover 8, and was later superseded by Rover's 10-12. Rover advertised it as The Nippy Nine, stressing its pump circulated water cooling, pressure lubricated engine, three speed gearbox and silent worm rear axle, with rod operated four wheel brakes on the Super models. Bodies included open two and four seaters, a fixed head coupe and a Weymann saloon on a 104 inch wheelbase, and a road test found that it ran pleasantly and could reach around 60 mph in top gear.
