The Renault MT was a compact sports car that Renault built from 1923 until 1925. It was presented at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris in 1923, approved by the national licensing authority on 19 February 1924, and it replaced the Renault KJ. Labourdette and Louis Renault designed it together with the KJ as a middle-class car with an alternative style for three passengers, produced in skiff or boat tail body styles. It had a water-cooled four-cylinder engine driving the rear axle through a Cardan shaft, with a top speed of 45 to 60 km/h depending on the gear ratio. It cost between 15,000 and 17,500 francs and sold poorly, because the comparable Citroën Type C cost only 12,800 francs; Renault replaced it with the Renault NN.
