The Renault 24cv covered two models, the PI and the PZ, built only as 1927 and 1928 models. They were made to distributor order and, as sales were very low, production stayed small. Both had a new three-spring rear suspension that gave much better roadholding and handling, and the six-cylinder engine (85 by 140 mm) was uprated to 85 hp (63 kW) with a four-speed gearbox. The rest of the running gear, including the servo brakes, matched the 40cv, which had the 110 by 160 mm engine. This was the last model year of the six-cylinder large Renaults. The PI were the open cars on short and long chassis, while the PZ were closed cars on long or very long chassis, and either could have two side-mounted spare wheels or the signature dual rear-mounted wheels that emphasised the long bonnet.
