Pontiac Economy Eight

The Pontiac Economy Eight Serie 601 was an upper-class car that Pontiac, a marque of General Motors, introduced in 1933. The almost unchanged car was sold as the Serie 603 in 1934 and as the Improved Serie 605 in 1935, and in 1936 the Deluxe Eight 8BA succeeded it. It was the only Pontiac model in its first year, after the six-cylinder cars were dropped. Its side-valve inline eight-cylinder engine was an entirely new design of 3,661 cubic centimetres, rated at 77 bhp, with a fully synchronised three-speed gearbox and a freewheel. Bodies included the coupe, cabriolet, roadster and two- or four-door sedans. In three years 212,891 eight-cylinder cars were built.
