The Plymouth Model Q, also called the Chrysler Plymouth, was the first car that Chrysler sold under the Plymouth name. It was offered only in the 1928 model year and was a particularly low-priced car with which Walter P. Chrysler took on the Ford Model T in the price war, the cheapest roadster coupe costing 670 US dollars. It was presented on 7 July 1928 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A side-valve inline four of 2,791 cubic centimetres produced 45 brake horsepower (33 kilowatts) and was the only four-cylinder engine in the group based on a design of the predecessor firm Maxwell-Chalmers; all four wheels had hydraulic brakes. Touring cars, sedans, coupes and roadster coupes were offered, and 66,097 had been built when the Model U replaced it in February 1929.
