Plymouth Model 30U

The Plymouth Model 30U was a mid-size car that Chrysler built under the Plymouth name for the 1930 model year, with the business coupe priced from only 590 US dollars, 75 dollars less than the same model the year before. It had an enlarged side-valve inline four of 3,214 cubic centimetres producing 48 brake horsepower (35 kilowatts), driving the rear wheels through a single-plate dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox, with hydraulic brakes on all four wheels. Bodies with two and four doors were offered. It differed from the Model U mainly by a fully chromed grille surround and heavier fenders. 76,950 were built before the Model PA replaced it in May 1931, a drop of 30 percent in sales from the year before.
