Mercedes-Benz W146

The Mercedes-Benz W146, known as the Type 260 VB, was a front-wheel-drive prototype for the upper middle class that Daimler-Benz built in 1936 and 1937. Hans Gustav Röhr drew it up on the pattern of the Adler Trumpf. It was planned as a four-door saloon or a four-door Cabriolet D on a 3300 millimetre wheelbase and used a side-valve flat-eight engine of 2544 cubic centimetres rated at 51 kilowatts, which gave a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour. Sixteen test cars were made. Röhr died in August 1937, the work was halted and the test cars were scrapped.
