The Mercedes-Benz W02 was a midsize passenger car with a six-cylinder, two-litre engine that Daimler-Benz introduced at the Berlin Motor Show in October 1926. It was one of the first models of the newly merged company, formed in 1926 from the fusion of the Daimler and Benz and Cie car businesses, and was developed in haste under Technical Director Ferdinand Porsche alongside the smaller W01, which never passed the prototype stage, and the larger three-litre W03. Early cars suffered teething problems that fed a conflict between Porsche and company chairman Wilhelm Kissel, and Porsche's contract was not renewed beyond 1928. The car was relaunched in 1929 under Hans Nibel as the Typ Stuttgart 200, with a 1,988 cc side-valve six-cylinder engine.
