The Mercedes-Benz 150 V, internal type W 130, appeared in 1934 alongside the rear-engined Type 150 as a small sports roadster of conventional layout with the same engine mounted at the front. It used the 1,498 cubic centimetre four-cylinder inline engine of the Type 150, with overhead valves, producing 55 horsepower, or 40 kilowatts. Drive went to the rear wheels through an unsynchronised four-speed gearbox with a floor lever, all four wheels had hydraulic drum brakes, and the rear axle was a swing axle on coil springs. Like its rear-engined sister the roadster reached 125 kilometres per hour. The works used a few pre-series cars of 1934 in road and off-road competitions, and a few field cars were built for the Wehrmacht, which was not interested in larger numbers, so plans for series production were dropped in 1936.
