The Lancia 20 HP, Tipo 55, later renamed the Gamma, was a passenger car built by Lancia during 1910, with 258 made. It was derived from the earlier Beta with a bigger engine, and in 1911 the larger-engined 20-30 HP Delta superseded it. The Tipo 55 was a side-valve inline-four with a cast-iron monobloc, a 100 mm bore and 110 mm stroke, displacing 3,460 cc and producing 40 hp at 1,500 rpm for 110 km/h, the same top speed as the six-cylinder Dialfa of two years earlier. It had a four-speed gearbox with a multi-plate wet clutch, a ladder frame with solid axles, and drum brakes on the transmission and rear wheels.
