The Dodge Series 116, named for its 116 inch wheelbase, was a middle-class car that Dodge made from 9 July 1923 to 1926 as its main model. It was updated in 1924 with a higher hood line, a rear brake light and new springs. It came with a three-speed manual transmission and an advertised 35 horsepower flathead four-cylinder engine, and its rear differential gearing was reduced to give a top speed of about 40 miles an hour, slightly slower than earlier models. It had an all-steel body, a starter generator chained directly to the engine and a vacuum tank for drawing fuel to the carburetor.
