Chrysler New York Special

The Chrysler New York Special was a luxury car that Chrysler built in Detroit for the 1938 model year as a special series of the Imperial Series C19. It used the more powerful engines of the Custom Imperial: a side-valve inline eight of 4,895 cubic centimetres producing 117 PS (85 kilowatts), or 124 PS (90 kilowatts) with higher compression, driving the rear wheels through a three-speed gearbox with hydraulic brakes on all four wheels. It differed from the ordinary Imperial by a modified grille, optional two-tone paint and better upholstery. A four-door touring sedan and a two-seat business coupe were listed, though no coupe is known to have been sold. The New Yorker replaced it the next year.
