Chrysler CD

The Chrysler Series CD was a large passenger car and the first eight-cylinder Chrysler, built in Detroit for the 1931 and 1932 model years and sold beside the Imperial Series CG, which was also an eight for the first time that year. Its side-valve inline eight displaced 3,938 cubic centimetres and produced 80 brake horsepower (59 kilowatts); from January 1931 a larger 4,274 cubic centimetre engine of 88 brake horsepower (65 kilowatts) was fitted. A four-speed gearbox, hydraulic brakes on all four wheels and wire wheels were standard, and the bodies had a backward-sloping V-shaped grille inspired by the Cord L-29. 14,355 were built, and the Series CP succeeded it in January 1932.
