Chrysler 50

The Chrysler Series 50 was a small four-cylinder passenger car that Chrysler built in Detroit for the 1927 model year. It replaced the F-58, a design that had come from the older Maxwell-Chalmers company, and used a side-valve inline four of 2,790 cubic centimetres rated at 38 brake horsepower (28 kilowatts). Power reached the rear wheels through a single-plate dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox, and hydraulic brakes on all four wheels cost extra. Seven body styles were offered. In 1928 the car was renamed the Series 52 with 45 brake horsepower. 82,412 Series 50 cars were built, and when Chrysler dropped four-cylinder models for 1929 the design passed to the new Plymouth make as the Model Q.
