The BMW 329 was a small car that BMW built at Eisenach in 1936 and 1937 as a special model beside the 319. It was offered only as a cabriolet, an inexpensive companion to the BMW 326 touring saloon: 1,011 four-seat BMW cabriolets were built, 42 two-seat cabriolets were bodied by Drauz of Heilbronn and 126 more were bodied to customer order, 1,179 in all. Mechanically it matched the 319, with the same 1,911 cc inline six giving 45 PS (33 kW) at 3,750 rpm, but it carried the front end of the newer and larger 326. BMW showed a Drauz cabriolet upholstered in cowhide at the international automobile and motorcycle show in February 1937, the four-seat cabriolet cost RM 4,950 in April 1937, and the 320 replaced the 329 that same year.
