The BMW 315/1 was a small two-seat roadster that BMW built at Eisenach from 1934 to 1936 as the sports version of the 315. It was presented in March 1934 and sold from the summer of that year for 5,200 Reichsmarks. A higher compression ratio and three Solex carburettors lifted the 1,490 cc inline six by 6 PS to 40 PS (29 kW), enough for a top speed of about 120 km/h, around 20 km/h faster than the roughly 80 kg heavier 315. The body was lower and 10 cm shorter than the saloon and cabriolet, with deeply cut doors and no side windows, on a tubular frame with cross members. Five works cars won the International Alpine Cup in 1934, and two 315/1s took the top places in the 1.5 litre sports class at the 1935 Feldberg hill climb. Production ended in 1936 after 230 cars, with no successor.
