Austin 20 hp

Automobiles

The Austin 20-hp was a mid-sized premium car made by the British manufacturer Austin, first shown as a chassis in Paris in December 1912, advertised in March 1913 and shown as a complete car at the Olympia Motor Show in November 1913. It was not an enlarged 15 but a scaled-down 30, with an engine two-thirds the size of the old 18-24, and Austin deliberately downplayed it against the more powerful 30 hp. It was the only Austin in production through the First World War, though in small numbers. In 1913 the four-cylinder range ran from the 10 hp at 260 pounds to the 30 hp at 550, with the 20 hp at 375 pounds, and the Olympia car was a landaulette.
