The Renault AGS was a light utility vehicle derived from the Renault Primaquatre, produced from 1938 to 1940 and used both as a commercial vehicle and as a military vehicle. Like many light utility vehicles of its day, it took the chassis and front bodywork of the Primaquatre but received a reinforced suspension. Its petrol engine is that of the Primaquatre, a four-cylinder of 85 by 105 mm rated at 14 CV, developing 45 hp at 3,000 rpm, with a gearbox of three forward gears and one reverse. As a military ambulance the AGS reaches 102 km/h, and the payload is 400 to 500 kg depending on the version. It was built in three versions, the AGS1 in 1938, the AGS2 in 1938 and 1939 and the AGS3 in 1939. The French Army bought eleven in 1938 and 1939, one commercial van and ten bakery vans, and 35 emergency medical cars delivered from November 1939 to February 1940.
