Morris 250 JU

Automobiles

The Morris 250 JU, at first also badged as the Austin 250 JU, was a forward-control light van launched by Morris Commercial in October 1967 with the familiar 1,622 cc B-series petrol engine claiming 49 bhp. The 250 in the name meant a gross loaded weight of two and a half long tons, implying a payload of 22 hundredweight, a gross-weight rating in place of the load capacity names that British buyers expected. Autocar tested one converted into a motor home weighing 4,180 lb, which reached 58 mph, and judged it a big improvement on the J2 it replaced but clumsy to drive, with engine noise above 40 mph the main complaint.
