Bedford Chevanne

Automobiles

The Bedford Chevanne was a small panel van that Bedford, the commercial vehicle arm of Vauxhall Motors, introduced in 1976. It was built on the Vauxhall Chevette estate, which like the Opel Kadett C used the GM T platform, but it had a flat load floor, no rear seats and no side windows. The Cavalier and Chevette Club records that it was meant to replace the Bedford HA, although in the end the two sold side by side, and that it used the same 1.3 litre (1256 cc) engine as the Chevette and the HA, with a three speed automatic gearbox as an option. Holden in Australia sold a similar T platform van, the Gemini, which shared the same rear panels. The Chevanne stayed on sale until 1984.
