The Herald Convertible and Estate were made until May 1971, when the Triumph Herald, introduced in 1959, ended its production. In 1971 the Standard Gazel, a restyled four door saloon based on the Herald with the same 948 cc engine, was introduced in India, with the Toledo's axle, because the Herald's swing arm was deemed unable to cope with road conditions in the Indian interior. It was the last year of the Herald.
