Production of the Dolomite continued until August 1980, when BL closed the Canley factory as part of a restructuring process, which also resulted in the closure of the MG factory at Abingdon two months later. The Dolomite had been made at Canley since October 1972 by the Triumph division of British Leyland, and the closure ended its eight years of production. The Dolomite ended when Canley closed.
