Roewe Jing

Automobiles

The Roewe Jing is a compact crossover SUV with coupe styling built by SAIC Motor under the Roewe brand. It was unveiled as a concept car at Auto Shanghai in April 2021 and Roewe lists it as a production model from 2022 to 2023. Its name is the Chinese word for whale: a pattern resembling the filter feeding plates in a baleen whale's mouth replaces the traditional grille and whale shapes appear on the headrests. Built on the same platform as the Roewe RX5 Max as a fastback version, it was expected to share the RX5 Max powertrains, a 1.5 litre and a 2.0 litre turbo four. In the Middle East it launched on 7 January 2024 as the MG Whale, with a 2.0 litre turbo engine of 170 kW and an Aisin eight speed automatic in Comfort and Luxury grades.
