The Isuzu Ascender is a mid-size SUV that General Motors built for Isuzu to sell in the United States. The seven-passenger Ascender was introduced for the 2003 model year as the replacement for the Isuzu Trooper, and the five-passenger Ascender followed for the 2004 model year as the replacement for both the Isuzu Rodeo and the Isuzu Axiom. It was a badge-engineered relative of the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, which is why Isuzu could offer an SUV in North America after it stopped building its own there. Isuzu withdrew from Canada after the 2002 model year, so the Ascender was sold exclusively in the United States.
