The Citroen Basalt is a subcompact crossover SUV that Citroen developed for emerging markets such as India and South America, previewed by the Basalt Vision concept shown in March 2024. The production car was unveiled on 2 August 2024 and went on sale in India on 30 August 2024, in Brazil on 2 October 2024, in Indonesia in July 2025 and in South Africa in March 2026. The Indian car offers a 1.2-litre petrol or turbocharged petrol engine and the South African car the turbocharged one, while the Brazilian version has a 1.0-litre petrol or turbocharged petrol. At its introduction it was the cheapest SUV on sale in Brazil. In Bharat NCAP testing in 2024 the Indian car earned four stars for adult occupants, and the Latin American car with four airbags and no driver assistance received zero stars from Latin NCAP in 2025.
