The Lancia Delta HF Integrale is a sporting version of the Lancia Delta, designed explicitly for the World Rally Championship, in which it competed from 1988 to 1993, winning five constructors' world titles and 35 rallies. The first step of its development was shown at the Frankfurt show in September 1987 as the renamed Delta HF 4WD, with wider wings, new bumpers and skirts, new air intakes and 15 inch alloy wheels instead of 14, and its turbocharged, intercooled 1995 cc engine rose from 165 to 185 horsepower. The car won both world titles again in 1988, and the 16 valve version made its debut late in 1989 at the Sanremo Rally, where Miki Biasion won. After Lancia announced its withdrawal from racing in December 1991, the Evoluzione cars ran in 1992 and 1993 under Martini Racing and then Jolly Club, and enthusiasts nicknamed the car the Deltona.
