The Jaguar XJR-9 was a sports-prototype race car built by Jaguar for FIA Group C and IMSA Camel GTP racing, and in 1988 it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans after debuting with an overall win at the 24 Hours of Daytona. It was an evolution of the XJR-8, designed by Tony Southgate and built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing, with a Jaguar 7.0 litre V12 based on the production 5.3 litre engine of the XJS, and a low-drag XJR-9LM variant was made for Le Mans. In the 1988 World Sports Prototype Championship it took six victories, Silk Cut Jaguar won the teams title and Martin Brundle the drivers title, and it was Jaguar's first Le Mans win since 1957. By 1989 it was dated and was supplanted midseason by the XJR-10 and XJR-11.
