The Mercedes-Benz 300SL is a sports car produced from 1954 to 1957, sold first as a coupe with distinctive upward opening doors that earned it the nickname Gullwing, and later as a roadster. It was the first production car fitted with direct fuel injection and, at its introduction, among the fastest production cars available.
