Lancia Montecarlo

Automobiles

The Lancia Montecarlo, Type 137, was a two-seat, mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car built by Lancia in Italy from 1975 to 1981 across two series. It was designed and built by Pininfarina, began as the Fiat X1/20 project and was sold first as the Beta Montecarlo, with the name written as one word to avoid confusion with the Chevrolet Monte Carlo. It used the 1,995 cc twin-cam four from the Fiat 124 Sport Coupe, a five-speed gearbox and disc brakes all round, and came as a fixed-head Coupe or a Spider with a folding roof panel. A Spider with a smaller 1,756 cc engine was sold in the United States as the Lancia Scorpion in 1976 and 1977. Production totalled 7,798.
