The Standard Fourteen was a four-door family saloon built by the Standard Motor Company from 1945 to 1948, the post-war continuation of the pre-war Standard range. It was in effect a modified pre-war 12 hp car fitted with the 14 hp engine option, a side valve four-cylinder unit of 1,776 cc, and it rode on a 100-inch wheelbase. Drophead coupe and estate car variants were offered beside the saloon, and the post-war cars could be told from their predecessors by the absence of bonnet louvres. Press reports of the time praised its economy, smooth running, roominess and finish, while luggage was carried on an external folding bumper carrier, which was not unusual then. Its engine and transmission were also used in the Jaguar 1.5 Litre.
