The Singer Chamois was the luxury badge-engineered derivative of the Hillman Imp, introduced in October 1964 and listed until 1970. Such derivatives, among them the Chamois and the Sunbeam Sport, were offered in an attempt to interest a wider public when Imp sales fell well short of the intended 100,000 cars a year. The variants recorded for the model include the Mark I and Mark II of 1964 to 1970, a Chamois Rallye of 1965 to 1968 with a unique instrument panel, luxury features and an engine enlarged to 998 cc, and the Chamois Sport and Coupe of 1967 to 1970, the coupe being described as the more luxurious Singer Chamois coupe. For marketing reasons the Singer variants were sold as Sunbeams in many export markets, even before the Singer marque was discontinued by Chrysler UK in May 1970, and Chrysler Australia developed a Hillman GT from the Chamois Sport.
