Saab 900

The Saab 900 is an automobile built by the Swedish manufacturer Saab from 1978 to 1998, developed from the platform of the earlier Saab 99 and becoming, over its long production run, the best-selling model in Saab's history. Built with the distinctive low, wraparound windshield and long, aerodynamic nose that became closely associated with Saab's design identity, and offered in turbocharged form that helped popularize the turbocharged engine among mainstream buyers in the 1980s, the 900 developed a loyal following, particularly in the United States and Scandinavia. A substantially different second-generation 900 introduced in the 1990s shared more components with General Motors platforms after Saab's partial acquisition by GM.
